Discover the horizontal stainless steel cartridge dust collector: a modular, compact solution for biomass systems until 2 MW.
In biomass heating systems, selecting appropriate treatment technologies requires a balance among performance, simplicity, and integration with the technical environment. The Tama Aernova metallic cartridge dust collector was developed to meet these requirements: an essential, compact piece of equipment that is suitable for installation even in confined spaces.
In the following article, we will cover its characteristics, the design logic behind it and a concrete example of its installation in Italy.
- Why was this solution born?
- How does a metallic cartridge work?
- When is it useful to choose this type of filter?
- What is the application case in Italy?
- What advantages can it bring to your system?
Why was this solution born?
In 2015 e identified a specific need: to create a filtering solution for biomass plants < 2 MW that was simple to install, easy to maintain and operated entirely mechanically.
We responded by introducing a horizontal metal cartridge filter, tested directly in the field and perfected over time.
After years of continuous operation in real-world contexts, the system has demonstrated:
- stability in emissions
- reliability even in environments subject to condensation or operational variations
- low operating and maintenance costs
How does the metallic cartridge dust collector work?
The system consists of a modular structure that houses horizontally arranged stainless steel cartridges.
Filtration takes place on the surface, with a downward flow that promotes the separation of the finest particles.
The cartridges are regenerated by a mechanical cleaning system.
This solution has extremely low energy consumption and is well suited to systems without complex infrastructure.
Main features:
- Compact structure, easily integrated into technical rooms with limited height
- Front maintenance, accessible and quick
- Resistant, long-lasting cartridges
- Low energy consumption
Modular configuration:
- Each module consists of 25 cartridges
- Can be assembled from 1 to 4 modules
- Flow rate:
– 1500 m³/h with standard cartridges per module
– up to 6000 m³/h with 4 modules
When is it useful to choose this type of filter?
The metallic cartridge filter is recommended in all cases where a completely mechanical solution is required, to be installed in small or decentralised technical rooms, where simplicity and operational continuity are a priority.
It is particularly useful when:
- you need to minimise routine maintenance
- you are looking for an easy-to-manage system that can also be used by non-specialised personnel
- it is important to reduce energy consumption
This solution does not replace, but rather complements, the other technologies available in the Tama Aernova catalogue – in particular the bag filter and the electrostatic filter – offering an additional option for designers, OEMs and installers who work on compact systems and require efficiency and ease of integration.
What is the application case in Italy?
We carried out one of the latest installations of this type at an Italian company with a biomass boiler <2 MW.
Customer objectives:
- To have a compact system that can be installed in a low-technical room
- To minimize the need for specialist maintenance
- To simplify management thanks to entirely mechanical technology
- To achieve effective filtration with stable emissions over time
